So far this term I have:

Quite possibly fucked up my exams,
Only been out once in Leicester,
Been to the National Space Centre,
Been to Nottingham,
Worn a wig out in Nottingham,
Seen a gig in Nottingham,
Been Home,
Spent far too much on a dress, to wear at a formal that cost far too much,
Nearly got given a first on an essay, but then the moderator rubbed out the mark and changed it to a 2:1.

I think that is it.

I deleted msn, so I could work, then spent too long on myspace. I have an essay, a practical and a task for mid next week, it’s hard, and I have developed a very bad sleeping pattern. On the bright side, I have slightly more interesting lecturers this term, but I also have to do Biological Psychology, which I am appalling at.

Someone please come and visit me here, although I don’t think anyone would like Leicester.

This week I plan planned to go out lots, but I think that’s fallen through as my friends don’t seem to like going out. I shall have to drink my cherry lambrini and white wine to myself, they don’t know what they’re missing. We also have this big tv screen in town, apparently, which films the drunk youth of Leicester and streams it live to through the internet, although I only saw this feature as I was half asleep watching the news, it might have been in Loughborough. Anyway, be prepared to get texts from me at 1am standing in front of it, ordering you to go and watch me.

Now I have to go and get the bumpy Arriva bus to campus.

It would seem I have the same to say as everyone else. I saw Karl Kennedy (see photo) he was aces, I was drunk, and I got crushed like a little girl at an emo gig, I have bruises to prove it!

It snowed, big snow! I got mocked for being so excited, no one could understand that it just doesn’t snow down south. Due to my over-excitement on the bus a stranger even leant over and said to me “are you from down south or something!?”.

I went to London on Weds to see Thunderbirds Are Now! They were so good! I want to go again. The train from Leicester is only £5 and takes an hour so it’s pretty good, I also went to the British Library for a few hours, which was fun.

Thurs I went around London, starting in Dirty Camden, then even Dirtier Oxford Street, then to the Tate Modern to see the big white boxes and the lovely Thames. Then to Dad’s Office Do very briefly before a Cornish Pasty. Then to Hennes, where I tried on some hot hot clothes, I had pictures but because of my retarded camera I know longer have them, it deleted half the pictures I took that day. They were multi-coloured leggings and a lovely mustard roll neck top, in matching lycra (sp?) material. Finally to Muji late opening, where I spent far too much (£50) but got some lovely goods.

I have two weeks left here, which will be crammed with work, and a little going out.

I’m coming up to my one week anniversary at Uni. It’s not bad, I did all the registration stuff etc. and have spent a ridiculous amount of money (e.g. £50 for sports card, £210 for bus pass). I didn’t have many lectures this week, only a few introductory ones. I got my timetable, it’s pretty nice..1 lecture on tues and thurs, only one early start, and no late afternoons…

Leicester town in nicer than I thought it would be, I went shopping today and yesterday..although bought very little. I found a record shop which seemed a bit better than Virgin and HMV. I also went to Leicester’s 2 ‘alternative’ clubs this week, one on Tues which was pretty good, cheap and busy. Last night another one, which had 3 floors, 2 were basically goth and metal, and one had the usual indie (Libertines, Kaisers etc.), which is better than Rnb and Garage, and I came thinking there’d be no indie clubs at all. Am gonna go to a few gigs too, Blood Red Shoes/Tera Tora and The Walk Off whenever they play. Also Help She Can’t Swim in Notts and Les Savy Fav / Thunderbirds Are Now! In London.

My room is really nice too, ensuite and huge kitchen, but the halls are atleast a 15 min bus away from uni and 30 min bus to town by the time its stopped etc. (only 15 min taxi) I’m seriously considering bringing my car up. I haven’t met tons of people yet, but I’m sure I will. I’m meant to be going Rock Climbing in the Peak District tomorrow, but the rain and tiredness has put me off. I might go to Fencing instead.

I seem to be setting a trend of updating this at the end of every month, so here goes.

I finished working at the beginning of the month, it ended with an evening in the pub, and Dad rather drunk, and me a bit drunk. It was slightly sad to leave.

The Monday after that it was off to Berlin. Our flight was at 6:30am, so we had to leave home at 4am. After picking everyone up (and sitting outside Stu’s house while he had a lie in) we made good time for the airport. The flight was pretty good, and we were in Berlin late morning. We spent lunch time waiting until we were allowed into our hostel room, and then went straight there and lay in bed, although I failed to catch up any sleep. The afternoon was spent at the Jewish Museum, the Sony Centre and then I think a bar, including possibly the cheesiest, most terrible cocktail bar I’ve ever been to. I won’t go into detail about each day, but we generally went to lots of exciting buildings, art galleries and design places, the usual landmarks…including sunset on top of the Reichstag. We also went to a few bars and so on, and for coffees. Overall a good week was had (well by me anyway) and I managed to do it all for roughly £200 give or take, not bad. *Pictures at the bottom*

I went back to work the Monday after I got back, for a morning to train the new secretary, and then I made my way to the Design Museum, near Tower Bridge. That was pretty good, although different from how I remembered it. I then sat, with my lunch, by the Thames, near the bridge. It was beautiful, I really do love London. I then had a quick coffee in Starbucks, the streets in that area are really nice, by all the old converted factories. Then I made my way home.

The rest of my spare time in the last few weeks has mainly been spent watching TV (24), and the last two days playing rather a lot of Burnout on PS2. As well as seeing friends and generally making the most of not working, or travelling for the first time in a year. I now ought to start sorting out some uni things. If anyone has any suggestions of decent places for room insurance I would appreciate ideas, and also how much it is?

I’ve had a busy, fairly unproductive, month.

Saturday night was the TDK Cross Central festival, much more favourable than Reading, although possibly just as tiring, well in my opinion. The venue was very nice, the music was pretty good, the drink was pretty expensive and the sitting in Kings Cross station from 5am-7am was a bit less enjoyable. Although it was still really good fun. (I hope I’m not hated for that..)

It’s now less than two weeks until I go back to Berlin, I hope it’s as good as I remember, it feels a bit weird going back, having only been there just less than two months ago. Rather exciting.

Uni then starts in a month, and I got ensuite, which is nice. I fear it will make hangovers slightly more bearable. I think I’ll be a terrible student, and a very broke one at that.

I want to go back to Canada now, and Europe, and New York, they all seem so far gone, and I just opened my last packet of Altoids, so I think I’ll have to go back to the US sooner than I thought.

I also got this:

The rest of Europe was fun, and I’m now back.

I went back to work last Wed, I’m working at Dad’s again in Westminster until mid September I think. It’s pretty good, except having to spend over an hour getting there and then again back, and lots of money on a travelcard.

I went to Truck Festival at the weekend, which was good, I think Motormark and The Walk Off were the best I saw there, but to be fair I somehow managed to not actually see that many bands.

And then I just spent Mon – Thurs on my parents Canal Boat, a family holiday. They are still there but I have to go to work, due to me being in depressingly big debts. It rained the whole time I was there, and then the sun came out when I was on the train home. But it was fun. Then the trains were delayed home, ergh..I realise now it might be because Birmingham was a bit windy today or something, so I guess that’s sort of a reason as that’s where my trains were.

And back to work tomorrow, and then next week etc etc. I think I’m doing something this weekend, but I have completely forgotten what, oops.

Oh and I’m hopefully going to the TDK Cross Central festival, that’s pretty exciting. And then in September I’m going to Berlin again, Yippee!! Then uni..oh soo much to do.

I´m now in Copenhagen, and it´s very hot!

Our hostel at the moment is a bit lame, its quite a way out of town and we´re in a room with 11 other people, who go to bed at 10pm and make us feel bad for coming in at 11. I also found that my bed allready had someone in, or more the last person hadn´t bothered to get rid of their stuff. But other than that Copehagen is nice so far.

Hamburg was lovely, our hostel was in a pretty good place, and the City is really nice! We met 3 Danish people and ended up going to a club, but had to leave early because we had a 2am curfew at the hostel, soo lame :( The club was really nice, we didn´t realise it was a gay club til we got there, but we had lots of fun. We then went out the next night with them to another club, but due to our 2am curfew ended up running the whole way home as we had to get up early the next day. We so wanted to stay, but the thought of getting in at 6:30 (when the hostel opened) and getting 2 hours sleep was to bad for us.

Amsterdam was pretty good, but i hoped it would have been better. This is where we were when I got a text from my brother, which went something like ´incase you havent seen the news, there have been some bombs in London, we´re all ok. Dad wants a secretary for 2 months´. Charlotte responded saying ´he´s winding you up´and me going ´he wouldnt joke!´. We then went to the nearest internet place and just sat reading bbc news, as i phoned my dad to see what was going on. Luckily he was fine, a friend of ours had been on the train but got off 2 stops before, and a guy at dad´s girlfriend was in the train behind, and although her ears were ringing for ages was not hit. I just can´t believe it´s happened, there is nothing here about it, like it hasn´t happened..but it has. :(

We go to Berlin tomorrow, which is very exciting..then home on Friday.

Im in switzerland (i dont even know how to spell it) Yay

So far ive done france (paris, lyon, grenoble, marsielle) and in Geneva now, Interlaken tonight, Zurich in a couple of nights. Its very very hot though, much much worse than i hear it is in England, but Switz is a bit cooler, and yay we are taking a train through the alps in 2hours. I dont have too much to report, as i donét have much time.

We really wanna catch bright eyes and the faint, but we miss them in Montreux and everywhere else they are, which is super lame. I want a gig to go to.

The men here are awful, and sleezy, well the ones we have been harassed by anyway, but we here Interlarken in party central or something, so thatll be nice.

Hope England is lovely, and Rich or Stu, email me if you have any exciting band news, or any news, or just email me anyway..anyone..

I haven’t really said too much to people about this, as it’s not really come up. But for anyone that reads this that is concerned etc. this is where I’ll be from June 20th – July 16th:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Does anyone have any suggestions as to places to go, not to go? We have cunningly managed to time our route so we’ll miss the Bright Eyes / The Faint tour by a few days in each place, but can’t really delay ourselves by that much..lame! I want to see a band in a foreign place.

Anyway, that’s all I really have to say. This week I’ve been working, tomorrow we’re playing in Camden, Sunday I’m seeing Eels, Friday we’re playing Oxford, Monday 8:10 I’ll be boarding Eurostar. YAY!!

I didn’t realise I hadn’t updated in ages. I’ve been pretty busy, I don’t know what doing. I ended work at my last job on Wednesday, rather suddenly. There wasn’t enough work for us all, and me being the temp got the boot..it was all a bit fast, I went in that morning with a job and came out without, having not said goodbye to most people. But I’m working at my dads now for a couple of weeks, sadly it means commuting to Westminster everyday. Then I’m off.
I fear it will be a busy few weeks, we’re playing in Camden Sat 11th, I’m not sure who with yet. Then I’m seeing Eels on Sunday 12th, part of the meltdown festival, I’m so excited. Then I want to try and catch’s Stu’s art thing, although with work I dunno how I’ll wangle that one. Then we’re playing 17th with Help She Can’t Swim, and Cassette for Cassette in Oxford…yippee!!!
All my friends, who went to uni, are coming back soon too, yay!

Oh gosh, I feel sooo rough…and all I drunk last night was…water!! It’s like a proper hangover, but without the joys of having been drunk the night before. I even felt drunk when I woke up this morning.

The gig last night was lots of fun, and lovely. I looked up in the middle of our set, and thought ‘oh gosh, there’s actually people here..watching, instead of a half full/empty room’. I think we played well, and I think people liked us. The place was so busy. Thank you everyone that came, and Phil too. Apparently it was so busy some people didn’t even get in, and Becky from Club Mofo came, and didn’t get in..lame!

Mmm come see us Monday, and Tuesday, yippee.

Our last two gigs went well..and Brighton was fun, even if it did rain. I love Brighton, mainly just looking at the pier, it’s like being a little kid..even though I never went when I was a kid.

I also saw Help She Can’t Swim at Artrocker, I think it was last week!? They were good too. I have had a job for the last 2 weeks at one of the local doctors surgeries, but it’s only working mornings, and not everyday. But from Tuesday onwards I go back to my old job. This is good and bad..I don’t want to work full time again, it’s such hard work. But I will have money again and no debts..for a little while anyway. I do so wish someone would just give me some money.

I want to go into London this week, but not in the rain. I want to take myself on a nice cultural day out, and then go and buy shoes. I think I’m having a busy weekend, all of my 3 social outings from the last few weeks and next few weeks have come together. Apparently there is talk of town on Friday, a party on Saturday and my friend’s gig on Sunday. I love parties..we never have them now, since we all passed the legal drinking age. I think more people should have parties, house parties.

Venice:

Venice was lots of fun. We left for the airport about 3:30pm, and got there almost an hour too early, before check-in. The time went fairly fast though. The flight wasn’t bad, and we arrived in Venice, I think, around 10:30ish. We then got a coach to main Venice. However, just after we got out of the airport, the coach hit a car, and so we were hanging around in the coach for probably half and hour while the two drivers argued, much to the whole coaches amusement, and Rory (I think) even had the excitement of seeing the whole event.
We got to the hostel at what must have been about 12:30/1am..having taken the waterbus, after the coach, and a walk in the rain. I was sharing with Jess, Charlotte and Nic, Rory and Ian had a very nice room together and Duncan was on his own, in a dorm/shared room thing. At first sight our room didn’t seem to bad, for a hostel, we actually had our own building/house thing, opposite the main hostel, where Ian and Rory were. (Although Duncan was a few minutes walk away, in a different property again). However, as time went by, we started to discover our room was getting less and less appealing.

I woke up on Saturday, having had one of the worst nights sleep in a long time. I had 3 separate dreams about people coming up the stairs in the night, and into our room. I’m assuming this was due to the fact that because the room was so old, all the windows were paper thin, and rattled in the wind, along with the blinds. The bed was also very uncomfortable. Woke up nice *cough* and early, and went and got a coffee/breakfast in a nearby café. Then went to St Mark’s square (the main square there) and just generally walked around. I think we did the Guggenheim in the afternoon, although that may have been Sunday, and that was pretty cool. That night we went and got some dinner, and then went back to our ‘house’ and all had a couple of drinks, and chatted etc. Although I was off the booze mostly, due to a headache. I think it was also that night that we went back to St Marks square, it was beautiful! There were a couple of bands playing classical music (violin, double bass, piano etc) and it was so lovely to watch. We had fairly good weather on Saturday too, rain in the morning, but sun in the afternoon.

The next morning, was earlyish again, but I slept much better, nightmare free, and had moved the mattress on to the floor, which was a lot more comfortable. During the day we went to a Modern Art/Oriental Art gallery, and a museum about Leonardo Da Vinci. The Da Vinci one was really interesting, and the gallery wasn’t bad. We also went over to an Island and saw some glass blowing, which was really impressive. However, due to the rain and very strong winds, we didn’t stay long. We went back to the room for a while and had a drink and then went out for dinner. However, whilst finding places to eat, we decided to go a different way to usually. We ended up walking for probably an hour, or more, around the more backstreets of Venice, in the rain and gale-force wind. We didn’t find anywhere to eat, at all! Then passed 2 funeral directors, and scary death themed pub and the 2 resturants we did see, didn’t look suitable. We were eventually allowed to check the map and ask directions, however the guy that gave us directions we think was pissed and no help at all. Luckily we eventually found our way to the more touristy area and a very nice meal! That night everyone again came back to ours where we had a stock of booze. So we sat talking and drinking, when at 1am we heard a noise, slightly different to the normal scary noises of the place. Then a bottle top was kicked, so we went to check it out..assuming it was nothing. Ian went first, down the stairs..and we shat ourselves!! There was this old women in the hall, about to climb the stairs, Ian was the only one that saw her, and just stood shocked and surprised, she then said something in Italian and walked out. After that we bolted every lock on the door, and just sat, for about 3 or 4 hours, all scaring ourselves more, about her coming back, or the door being unlocked, and getting scared everytime the wind blew the shutters. However, it was tons of fun chatting. At 4 the guys left to go to bed. So we all got into bed and then heard a knock, we all went downstairs and in formation Nic opened the door, stood behind it, jess looked who was there and I stood with Charlotte on the stairs, ready for attack. It turned out to be the boys...locked out of their room. They went back shortly after, and some old lady let them in.

I woke up the next morning, having had at most 4 hours sleep..but atleast we hadn’t been murdered by an old lady. That day we looked around all the stuff at St Marks, buildings etc and Doggi’s Palace (sp?)..the Palace was really pretty inside, all old painted ceilings etc. And had some fab ice cream etc.
The flight home and journey went fine, although again, had a bit of a wait at the airport.

Overall was a wonderful trip, and Venice was beautiful, unlike any other place I have been. The only thing that could have made if better was perhaps a bit more sun and a nice hotel, but I would do it again any day. We all got on well too, and it was really nice to get to know a few people better, Ian, Duncan and to meet Rory. It feels pretty weird being home now, I have to sort out a job again and get back into the normal routine I had before I went travelling. I’m also more than broke. But it was worth it.

Well I’m now home, as of 9am Tuesday morning. New York was fun, we didn’t do that much there..we took Ben to see ‘Lady Liberty’ and Ground zero etc. Didn’t do Empire State, as weather was too poor, except the day we left. We did go to B & H and I did spend too much money there, especially on ridiculously expensive headphones, and other things. We also went to some improv comedy, which was pretty good, although, according to my cousin, not the best performance they’ve seen. I can’t remember what else we did, of great significance. We went round Chinatown/Little Italy/Soho etc. which was quite fun. We also got stuck in Harlem for a short while, which wasn’t as fun as it was really raining. Infact I think I experienced some of the worst rain in years, on our first full day there. Oh and we also got stuck in the subway, as the train in front broke down..that was fun. And of course the MOMA, that was ace!

The plane back was ok, except Ben and I were the last to arrive for our flight (even though we were 1hr 45 min early) and got the last 2 seats, so had to sit apart. We tried the whole ‘we don’t mind being upgraded’ but were too late for that, harsh! And the in-flight entertainment broke, so started an hour late, thus meaning I missed most of the magic roundabout, as I had my whole viewing planned out. I didn’t sleep either. And the women next to me didn’t go to the toilet on the whole 7-hour flight, remarkable I thought. We also had no turbulence, which was impressive, but not very exciting either. Our bags took forever to come out though, but eventually did.

I think I’m now adjusted back mostly, I slept till 5pm yesterday, mum woke me up and I wouldn’t believe her it was 5pm, the shame of it. Although I didn’t get to sleep until 3:30am last night, probably because of it.

Now it’s raining. But I’m going to Venice tomorrow, yay!!! Although I hope not everything is shut for the mourning :/ hmm. I also have no money now, and a slight debt. I have to find a job..next week.

A few pictures, for your delights… )

I am home.

I’m now in New York, yay!

The rest of Ottawa was fun, but then I got ill..which was not fun. I arrived at Mont Tremblant for skiing and slowly got worse over the week, until after a phone call home..involving me being all upset and hundreds of miles from home, mum made me go to the Dr..I found out I had sinusitis (I have no idea how to spell it). That explained why, despite the fact I took every painkiller under the sun, I had a crappy headache (and cold). So that went away, but cost me like $200 – bad!! It also meant that most of the money I spent on ski passes etc was wasted as I didn’t use them as much as I should have, but at least the hotel bed was nice.

Anyway, that went away as I arrived at Montreal. Montreal was nice, a bit more old fashioned than the other places, but a lot of stuff was in French, which was amusing. Didn’t really do much there, as stupidly we didn’t have a guide book or anything so didn’t know what we were doing..oh well!

Flew to Boston. Boston was nice, could have done with perhaps a bit more time there. Stayed with a friend, who lives at Harvard, it’s rather posh there, and very nice. We only had 2 proper days in Boston so spent the first one just walking around and the second we went to the science museum (oh yes!) and then a basket ball game in the evening, which was fun fun, except I don’t know shit about the game. Then the day after that we left for New York.

Had a 5 hour coach trip, but it was cheap. New York is fun, am staying with my cousin who has a nice apartment right near central park and broadway. So don’t know what we will do yet, weather is too lame for the classic empire state. And we miss all the good gigs, which is very poor. But It will be an exciting few days.

I’m rather looking forward to being home though, it’s so bazaar to think I haven’t been in England for a month. I have like no money either, when I get home I should have literally about 15 pounds left..hmm I think my parents might have to lend me money for Venice.

Alsoo..should I buy some sexy headphones for $100?? I think I might, cos I’m stupid.

Oooh I hope Venice and England are warm too..
